Works within a team environment scheduling out patient exams for various hospital and hospital services.
Reports directly to the Central Scheduling Supervisor.
DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
COMMUNICATION:
Promptly answers the telephone in a professional and courteous manner.
Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to utilize various telephone applications but not limited to forwarding and establishing conference calls.
Employee may function as a switchboard operator.
Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to schedule simple and complex patient appointments for various departments Including but not limited to CT, Ultrasound, MRI, Xray, PET/CT, Mammo, Dexa, Echo, Stress test/echo, Heart Cath, etc.
Is responsible for order entry of exams and scheduling in a timely manner.
Communicates courteously and effectively with patients, offices, departments, nurses, doctors and other personnel.
Demonstrates an understanding of medical terminology.
CLERICAL:
Has the understanding and ability to locate a patient in the various systems (Sorian, Quadramed, ecw) or create a newpatient.
Has the understanding and ability to pre-register patient visits for the Arnot Health.
Demonstrates insurance (primary and secondary) knowledge.
Demonstrates knowledge of allocating insurances and checking for eligibility.
Demonstrates the ability to accurately schedule patient's exams for all departments to ensure the smooth daily operation of the department and to best utilizing the technologists time.
Demonstrates the knowledge of the required patient preparation for all exams and communicates this information at the time of scheduling (including lab tests associated with any procedures).
Obtaining any pre authorizations, no authorizations and subsequent details in relation to the approval procedures.
Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT Codes.
Knowledge of the approval and denials regarding those codes and communicating them to the appropriate departments.
COMPUTER:
Demonstrates basic computer skills.
Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to work within the Arnot Health's computer system.
Maintains computer security.
QUALITY:
1 Demonstrates reliability in the conscientious, complete and accurate manner in which work assignments are performed.
Demonstrates Quality Improvement principles in daily work and participates in QI monitoring and reporting.
Functions within an awareness of risk management and safety issues, reports concerns appropriately.
Maintains complete understanding of the Arnot Health's emergency codes.
Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.

High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
1-3 years experience working with medical terminology required.
1-3 years customer service required.
CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:
No CPR required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Light physical effort.
Typical office job.
Lifting of 15 pounds frequently.
EXPOSURE CATEGORY:
Category III.
Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.
