Product Manager ? Workholding Products Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Product Manager to join Hardinge, an esteemed Global Machine Tool Company, specializing in Turning & Milling, Super Precision, Grinding and Workholding equipment.
As the Product Manager for Workholding products, you will be responsible for leading the development and management of our product portfolios on a global scale.
This leader will be responsible for the global product roadmaps for the portfolio product lines, competitive analysis and product positioning, support in the creation and maintenance of major product lines in multiple industries, global pricing guidelines, product promotions, and working with engineering and operations to drive common platforms.
In addition, the successful candidate for this position will focus on providing product training and promotion of existing products, determining regional requirement for new products, and working with the sales team and application engineering to close customer opportunities as needed.
The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in the machine tool industry with a passion for bringing to market innovative solutions.

Responsibilities:
Product Strategy and Roadmap:
Partners with Business President, CTO & CCO to develop and execute the product strategy for the Workholding portfolio, aligned with the company's overall vision and objectives.
Identify market trends, customer requirements, and industry dynamics to drive product roadmap decisions.
Product Development:
Collaborate with R&D teams to conceptualize and develop cutting-edge new products that meets customer needs and exceeds industry standards.
Manage the entire product development process, from concept to launch, ensuring timely and successful product releases.
Market Analysis and Competitor Research:
Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify opportunities and gaps in the current market.
Stay informed about competitors' products, pricing, and market strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
Assesses market competition by comparing portfolio products to competitors' products.
Provides source data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives.
Obtains product market share working with sales team for insight and to develop product sales strategies.
Customer Engagement and Needs Analysis:
Engage with customers and industry stakeholders to understand their pain points, challenges, and evolving requirements.
Use customer feedback to inform product enhancements and new product development.
Assesses product market data by calling on customers with field salespeople and evaluating sales call results.
Conduct and analyze research to define segmentation, differentiation, positioning, and pricing.
Pricing and Profitability:
Establish competitive pricing strategies for the grinding equipment portfolio, taking into account cost structures and market dynamics.
Monitor product profitability and implement adjustments to meet financial targets.
Provides information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses; answering questions and requests.
Facilitates inventory turnover and product availability by reviewing and adjusting inventory levels and production schedules.
Product Launch and Marketing Coordination:
Plan and execute product launches, collaborating with the marketing team to create compelling product positioning, messaging, and promotional campaigns.
Provide product knowledge and training materials to support the sales team in effectively presenting and selling our products.
Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing return-on-investment analyses; establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing.
Introduces and markets new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, advertising, and production.
Conduct market research to identify opportunities for products and applications Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data; reviewing production and sales costs; anticipating volume; costing special and customized orders.
Synthesize market research, customer input, and competitive analysis to into product roadmap and product requirements documents.
Quality and Compliance:
Ensure that all products adhere to quality standards, safety regulations, and industry certifications.
Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address and resolve any product-related issues.
Lifecycle Management:
Manage the entire lifecycle of grinding equipment products, including updates, enhancements, and end-of-life decisions.
Analyze product performance and customer feedback to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, sales, and service, to align product strategies and ensure seamless execution.
Work with Project management on all internal efforts required for product commercialization, including work with R&D, Quality, Operations, Service, Finance and related roles Work with Field Applications and Sales team to evaluate tools post launch, and drive revisions or additional activities to fill any remaining needs.

Qualifications:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, sales, and service, to align product strategies and ensure seamless execution.
Product Management, People Management, Understanding the Customer, Product Development, Requirements Analysis, Pricing, Planning, Competitive Analysis, Sales Planning, Inventory Control, Financial Planning and Strategy Key
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
An MBA is a plus.
Proven experience (7
years) as a Product Manager or Technical Manager preferably in the machine tool industry, or with technical / capital equipment.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills to drive successful product launches.
Excellent communication and presentation abilities to effectively convey product concepts and strategies.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across functions, locations, and global teams ? must be able to present data and conclusions in an organized manner.
Demonstrated problem solving, research, analytical skills, attention to detail and multi-tasking capability.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Languages proficiency:
English Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage projects to completion.
Proficiency in product management tools and software.
Willingness to travel up to 30%, including international travel as required to support global business operations.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
