PLANT OPERATIONS MANAGER
Elmira, NY
Plan and direct all manufacturing activities on a day to day basis to achieve the planned production/efficiency target goals in this union plant. Assist the Plant Mgr in policy and long term planning for Plant operations as they affect internal and external business relationships
DUTIES:
Supervise 4-6 department heads and achieve planned production levels and efficiencies.
Monitor and maintain outgoing quality at the planned/budgeted levels
Direct the growth and self-development of subordinates
Maintain cooperation and resolve conflicts between Plant Staff Groups and Production Departments in order to obtain the best solutions.
Develop, promote, and support cost reduction practices and programs
Ensure safety, health, and housekeeping policies procedures are followed
Manage capital portfolio for the plant. Manage cost reduction activity for the plant
Insure orderly and economic equipment repairs to the major units as they occur
Insure the initial production of new products and processes
Assist in providing data, information and development of guidelines for additional product expansion
Develop and deploy processes to ensure continuous improvement
Advise the Plant Manager in detail of people and equipment needs and/or moves
Optimize Plant production schedule to match Plant and Business demands
Advise controller on operations budgets, forecasts and schedules
Establish improvement projects and operations priorities
Optimize Manufacturing Performance of the Plant
Maintaining a positive labor relations environment within the Plant
Maintain process for effective continuous improvement
MUSTS:
Bachelors Degree or MBA preferred in Business, Engineering or related field

years of manufacturing experience in consumer or household products desired.
10-12 yrs experience with multiple department/multiple shift supervision.
Experience with Continuous Process Improvement and Lean/Six Sigma.
Supervision of personnel in a union manufacturing plant a plus
Strong working knowledge of business and finance a plus
Highly organized and capable of operating in a varied, fast paced environment
Position requires strong leadership skills and ability to be a change agent
Must be highly motivated and results oriented
